The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on the Integration of Migrants in Europe (IntoME) and the PRIN CoSME (Community Sponsorship for Migrants in Europe) invite you to the 2025 edition of Have Your Say!, a hands-on meeting aimed at promoting the transformative role of the university in fostering resilient, inclusive and cohesive communities, through cooperation with institutions, civil society and the local territory.
12 June 2025 – Day One
Following the institutional greetings by the Rector of the University of Tuscia, the Director of the Department of Legal, Social and Educational Sciences (DIKE), and the Chair of the Unified Course in Law and European Studies, the first session will explore the role of the university as a driver of social change. Topics will include internationalisation practices, participatory student-led theatre for inclusion, intercomprehension and intercultural dialogue, and the strategic involvement of students through projects such as the Migration and Asylum Legal Clinic (MALC) and participation in the Italian Negotiation Competition 2025.
The second session will focus on “Sports and Inclusion”, showcasing how physical activity and team sports can support educational success and social redemption, through contributions from academic researchers, Caritas of Florence, and refugee athletes involved in the “Refugee Teams” network.
To close the day, the UNITUS student community will join refugee players on the field for a solidarity football match (#UNITUS4Refugees), hosted by the University Sports Centre. This will be a moment of collective engagement and fundraising in support of refugee inclusion.
13 June 2025 – Day Two
The day opens with Session III, dedicated to institutional networks and inclusive projects, highlighting collaboration between the University of Tuscia, the Prefecture of Viterbo and civil society organisations. Projects such as PROBEN, LEAP, Growth, SHARE, EUPassworld, and the Institutional Table for Community Sponsorship will be presented.
Session IV will address the topic of University Corridors for Refugees, including an evaluation of the UNICORE 7.0 programme, updates on UNITUS for Ukraine, and insights into the UNITUS model of university sponsorship, now recognised in international academic literature.
The session will conclude with a presentation of experiences and bottom-up initiatives led by UNITUS international students, including The Bridge Trust initiative, highlighting the active role of students in shaping inclusive university ecosystems.
