The Summer Training School (STS) on ‘Integration Policies in Europe: Testing Community Sponsorship and Competing Models’, is an intensive 5-day course exploring the multidimensionality of community sponsorship and competing models in Europe. The course focuses on the legal underpinnings of these models, with the aim of identifying the main features of a European model.
Hosted by the PRIN 2022 ‘Community Sponsorship for Migrants in Europe’ (CoSME) project and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on the Integration of Migrants in Europe (IntoME) project, the course will take place at the University of Tuscia in Viterbo. It will provide attendees with an extensive and thorough understanding of the following four key aspects: a) the EU’s contribution to the design and standard-setting of sponsorship-based pathways; b) the complex relationship between admission, reception, and integration in sponsorship schemes in Europe; c) the impact of fragmented status and rights on durable solutions for beneficiaries; and d) the principles and values underpinning the creation of a common European sponsorship model. These dimensions will be explored from various viewpoints, including legal, political, social and economic
perspectives.
